The Sourdough Chronicles: Day 2

So hopefully you aren't too daunted by the prospect of something growing and living in your house!


Its time to take a look at your sourdough!


First off it should look a bit like this, and tiny bubbles should be forming on the surface.



But if it doesn't and it as a layer of water and the dough has "split", then you need to church it away and start again, make sure its in a warm place but not cooking!


So for those who have been lucky with their starter and it looks like the photo above, its time for step 2.


In a slightly bigger bowl. Add 40g of rye flour (or whatever flour you used yesterday), 45g of water and another 5g of Honey and mix all together.


Now it should look like this



Cover with a cloth and leave in a warm place for 24 hours.
