More topping please!!!
If you want a place to have a chilled cool lunch, with sourdough pizza, any drink you can name, a relaxed lunch with no concerns about overstaying your welcome and you have great company, then this is a great place for lunch.
The only thing that let it down was the sourdough pizza. Unless you have spent the last 5 years of your life trapped in Donald Trumps wig you will have noticed the insane amount of sourdough pizzerias that are exploding all over thne place. It has started coming back into fashion since Nancy Silverton's Sourdough bakery in America took off. Sourdough is the best thing since sliced bread...literally. Personally I love the fact that sourdough is coming back into fashion, as someone who loves the flavour of bread and not plastic with added sugar that you can squish back into dough is great. I would like to remind people at this point that this has been how bread was made for generations, it is not new and most of Europe never switched to the cheap stuff, good on them.
But back to the pizza's and just because they are sourdough doesn't mean you can serve half of them plain with nothing on.
I had a pizza that had some insane flavour in certain bites and then no flavour in the next, when there was topping the pizza was excellent! Rocket, Serrano ham and picante peppers which were so sweet and delicious I was amazed, but the next bite it was plain dough....there was no consistent base sauce with flavour and for me that majorly let it down. As a group we used up a large proportion of their chilli oil and chilli flakes.
In summary the toppings were incredibly well thought out, with delicious new ideas for sourdough, and when they were in your mouth the combination was excellent. I doubt they make a bad pizza topping, there just wasn't enough of it. More topping and this pub would be pushing its way up the ever lengthening sourdough ladder.
If you want a quick, cost-effective lunch in a great pub atmosphere that is warm and welcoming the please go there. I'm sure if you asked they would make sure the pizza's were full.
